FIrst Day of School - Preschool

In honor of my big boy so close to starting kindergarten, I figured I should probably have the pictures of his first day of preschool up here! It was so amazing to realize that Cailen was grown up enough to be going to preschool. As a mother, I can testify that time moves way too quickly! He was able to go to my sister in law's preschool so he had his aunt for his teacher! He loved it! He did such a great job all year and made lots of friends! On his first day, he was so excited to go. Look at that smile!
This was his first day of school special breakfast!
A gluttonous amount of the obligatory front door picture

Jex wanted to be a part of the excitement
Walking into preschool!
After his first day of school with his teach Mrs. Trish, aka Aunt Trisha
Burning off some excitement at the neighborhood park
Second day of school with his new backpack that came in the mail too late for the first day of school! I LOVE his alphabet backpack, it was so adorable! I'm hoping he will let me let him use it for kindergarten :)

We love our little munchkin who isn't so little anymore! In a few weeks I will post the pictures of his first day of KINDERGARTEN! Which I just can't believe...wow. Public school. For those who aren't aware, we were living at my parents' for a few years and are now at my grandma's while we are looking for a house of our own. So he will be starting kindergarten while we are at my grandma's but most likely, and hopefully really, will have to move to a new school a few months in. Hopefully he takes the transition well. So far, he has been a trooper with all the moves everyone we know has been making!! We moved out of my parents' basement, they are moving to Hawaii, my sister is going to college, whew! Big changes! It leads to adventure and new opportunities and that is exactly what kindergarten is going to be too! Goodbye PreK and onto the next adventure!!

We love swimming!

These were also as a draft! From last July!! GAH! We have had such fun swimming each summer and this shows a little bit of the fun we had last summer. Mostly these are for my family that lives far away (Heather and now my PARENTS! HAWAII! I know, they're pretty lucky) but I figure cute kids put a smile on most people's faces so again, even though it was more than a year ago, here are some pics of my kids :)

Jex is 9 months old!

You like how this title throws you off considering the previous post just explained how Jex turned one? Even though he is really almost two? Yeah, umm, these gems were just sitting in my post list as a DRAFT! That I never posted!! So here it is, about a year later and I'm finally posting it. Sigh. I am not even going to bother writing anything about it. Just that we were at BYU for the grassy shots and that my kiddo is adorable :)

Jex is ONE!

As I was writing the post for Cailen's latest birthday, I realized I should probably have posted about Jex's birthday first. Oh well! Actually, the thing is, with all the crazy move stuff going on lately, I can't find the pictures! I don't know if they are on my computer, my parents' computer, my external hard drive or my camera! Ok, I actually know they aren't on my camera because I cleared that before we went to Disneyland (another thing I need to post about!). So one checked, three to go. Sigh. As soon as I find those, I will add or repost. But I'm thinking of you too Jex, don't worry :) I just have to find those pictures...

Found them!! (like 30 seconds after I actually thought about it and remembered where I saved them...whew!)

Here is Jex the morning of his birthday!! All puffy eyed and cute...he is one!!

Not sure what to think about the candle bring something hot that close to him, he was very concerned :)
But he loved the french toast!

 Even wanted to share
Present time!

Hmm, guess he didn't care about his train. Cailen must have remembered when he had one just like it. Considering it was a replacement for the one he killed, he better like it too.
Birthday boy's beautiful blue eyes

 Eating ice cream :)

Playing with toys while I TRIED my very hardest to get a good regular picture of him. He did NOT like it, as is evidenced below.

Sorta won a smile but it is a terrible picture

This is more like the Jex we know and love (and he hasn't changed a whole lot since these pics. He smiles easier but he still likes to give you the ol' stink eye)

Gimme Gimme Gimme

More ice cream. Must be a special day.
Cailen had his school pictures taken on Jex's birthday and the photographer was kind enough to snap a couple of Jex for us. He was a bit of a stinker (again) and these are the best ones! Memo to me: Never put a vest on a baby for a picture!

Now it is time to party!! Jex's birthday party was really fun to plan and it was a lot of fun once the party got going too! We had a vintage Little Man party! What? Jex wanted it...

Here is a pic of most of the decorations: the food table! We had popcorn, with deli sandwiches and homemade macaroni and cheese! It was awesome! I used some old stuff to decorate with (the middle pic and the one to the right is of my grandpa from the navy!!) and made some new things look old! I think it turned out pretty cute.

(My gpa is on the right, in white) Side note: Do not copy that cupcakes stand...it lasted for all of two seconds before someone went to snatch a cupcake and it all fell apart. Totally lame. Or use something other than hot glue because that did NOT work!
Centerpiece for the table was a photo layout of Jex throughout his first year on a burlap table runner. One for every month! And then I added some vintage-y containers to hold the mustaches for the partiers!

Horrible picture, but this was the lopsided wreath I made for the front door. It was a cute Pinterest idea to use a tube to make a wreath, it just didn't work well for me :( But I wrapped it in burlap and using scrabble tiles, I spelled out happy birthday! Then framed it with an old window frame. The idea was cute, I just was a bit bummed with the results.
Hehe, one of my favorite decorations. I used a now non-existen (boo) website to add mustaches to a picture of Jex. He has quite the variety of mustaches and I LOVE it. It was awesome.
We had all the family and guests write a little note to Jex for his time capsule for him to open when he turns 19. Either a memory of him, the day or advice. Just something fun for him to read when he is 18!
Jex in his Little Man outfit
The birthday cake (another pinterest find mixed with a bit of my own creativity. I thought it turned out DARLING!)
And now for the mustache pictures!!

This was the easiest way to get our Little Man a mustache. Have to say, it worked out quite well!
The "Pin the Mustache on Jex" game--hilarious!

 Getting ready for the cake!!
 Oh the anticipation...
 What? More fire?

Getting some tips on where to start from his older brother
 A little tentative...

 Hmm, this could be good...
Getting some more help, this time from Mom and Dad :) (what?? He has to be messy for the pictures or it is no fun!)

He was cracking up at everyone, it was so funny!
Getting into the swing of things!
I totally forgot to get a pic with the newspaper party hat I made him!! I worked so hard on it and it turned out so cute and I spaced it. So this is the best I get. And Jex wasn't too thrilled. Drat.

 We love our little man!!

Kids playing the Just Dance Kids game. That game rocks and Cailen LOVES it!
Jex was dancing it up from his high chair while he tried to do a little more damage to his cake.

All cleaned up and ready for more!

Present time!

He LOVED this dog!! And my sister Heather has a dog that looks very similar, so I loved it :)

 Kisses? :)

 Books
Apparently those get a bite, er, a kiss too.

Told you he loved this thing.
And later that week he got to go the doctor for his 1 year checkup and he was a champ! He got his first sucker for getting his shots and while it helped, I don't think a one year old is physically able to eat a sucker without getting it over the entire car seat on the way home..I think I could have held that off until his 18 month checkup and we would have been just fine :) But look at that face...how could the nurse have resisted that? :)
We love our little Jex and even though he is not so little anymore and he is almost TWO, I still figured I would share these pictures with you guys. And now...it's bedtime for momma!
