Candy Obsession Update

I'm obviously trying to document my child and his cuteness. He says lots of really cute things and I just can not remember them all! I figured this next one was worth recording on my blog because it had to do with the whole Candy Obsession...

We were at the movie rental store tonight (yes I realize it's now Sunday because it's 1 in the morning, just ignore), which is where I'm pretty sure the last candy exclamation incident occurred, and Cailen was telling us he wanted candy. I told him no and that we had some at home. "I want movie store candy" he told me. Again, I told him no (it was past 10 pm! He's not getting candy!). We grabbed our movies and headed to the car. As I am opening the door to get him in his car seat he informs me very clearly and a little forceful, "I want candy in my mouth." It was darn cute and I laughed and so did Mark. That's probably why he kept repeating that phrase as well as a simple "I want candy" and "candy" the whole way home. It was like his mantra, there was no break from his constant desire for candy. (Luckily, he got over it when we got home because he had to go to bed. phew)

On a side note, when I was putting him in the car a little bit earlier that night, he went all locked knees on me! I could NOT get him to sit down in his seat, he was STRONG! How does that happen? He's 2, he's not stronger than me! But I could not get him to bend his legs or anything. Mark had to reach around from the drivers seat to help me out and even then, I had to wrestle with the kid to get his arms in the straps. He was laughing quite hysterically and thought it was hilarious. Actually, it kinda was. :) My kid's funny.

Brother Baby

Ha, ok, don't get too excited about the name of this post. It's just a story about Cailen!!!!

So you know how kids find toys in the oddest things? Like how they like the box something comes in better than the toy itself? That became evident yet again yesterday when Cailen befriended his bag of baby wipes. That's right, you heard me, the bag of WIPES.

Cailen was playing in our bedroom last night amongst a bunch of pillows from our bed. They were on the floor because we were changing the sheets. He was laying down "watching a movie" and informed us that he had a "brother baby." At first this was extremely confusing, but it became clear as we watched him and he got the bag of wipes to lay next to him. He was hanging out with the bag of baby wipes! He was so happy about it! I don't know where in the WORLD the name came from, but Cailen either wanted a friend at the time to watch the movie with him or he wants a brother! He even wanted to bring it with us over to Mark's mom's house. Silly Cailen.

I had forgotten about it until this morning when Cailen wakes up and the first thing he says is, "Where is friend baby?" Apparently the named changed in the middle of the night. Right now it goes back and forth between brother baby and friend baby. Needless to say, Cailen has a newfound friend...Take that back, he just informed me that he doesn't want to watch Toy Story with brother baby. He wants to watch it himself. I looked and "Brother Baby" is off to the side, abandoned for the meantime :)

Obsessed with Candy

Cailen is OBSESSED with candy.

He could eat it for every meal.

I don't know how this happened. I am really hoping it's a typical kid thing and not something that is going to continue for eternity and rot all of his teeth. We have fights about it because he doesn't want dinner, he wants candy.

Still, it makes for some cute moments:

Cailen said the other day, in the car, "I want some candy..." then he yells at the top of his lungs "I LOVE CANDY!" It was very out of the blue. I think you might have had to be there, but it was really cute.

Making Valentines

We decided to whip out the Cricut this week and cut out hearts to make Valentines! Every time I pass by the valentines in the store, I am tempted to buy them for Cailen to use. But really...does Cailen need 32 valentines when he doesn't have a class full of kids to give them to. So I finally realized we could make the amount that we needed and they would be much cuter. Cailen had lots of fun pushing the "cut" button. He was excited every time he could see that hearts were being cut out. It's cute to see that the little things in life thrill kids :) Once all of our hearts were cut out, Cailen helped me glue hearts together and then he "wrote" Happy Valentine's Day on the backs. Ok, he mostly drew circles and "airplanes" but it was still cute. He made some for all of his grandparents, his aunt Heather who lives far away in Houston now, and his mom and dad! (yes I helped him make my own Valentine, haha) Here are some picks of us enjoying this holiday!

Cailen is learning how to hold his pens/pencils/markers the right way. It's cute to watch him figure it out. You can kind of see his works of art in the picture.

Are you BUSY?

I saw this video on a random blog I look at and thought it might be worth sharing on my blog. Often we are so busy that we end our days worn out, grumpy, feeling the burden of all the things we DIDN'T get done that day. Oh I've got my good days too, but I definitely have my busy days! This video helped me readjust my perspective back to the things that are NUMERO UNO in my life! My family and the gospel. Hope you like!

Like a Rock

Cailen has been sleeping for three hours.

He went to sleep at about 3:30...It is now 6:45. How come this doesn't happen when he gets to sleep at the right time instead of two hours late? Or when I have lots of things around the house to do? I've been bored out of my mind! He's never going to go to sleep tonight! Grr!

Hallelujah! I hear him singing in his room now! He's AWAKE! I can leave the house now!

I love my son!

Cailen is super cute. Just had to clear that up in case anyone wondered, but who would wonder after seeing pictures like this!!

At Zupas

Riding around in a suitcase

Hill Aerospace Museum

One Friday we decided to have a family outing. We headed to the Hill Aerospace Museum, which was free! Awesome. And Cailen loves planes, so it was perfect. We had a lot of fun and I think Mark was fantasizing being a fighter pilot.

Pictures for January

Here is my visual update for most of January! For the text portion, go here :)

New Year's Eve:

With Grandpa Davis

Party at the Schmidt house! My sister-in-law and her husband always have people over at their house and Cailen loves to play with his cousins

Nieces Hannah and Lysi

Trisha and her husband Craig

Happy New Year!

New Year's Day is always Sledding Day!

Aunt Heather and Cailen

Michelle and Valerie prepping to go down the hill!

After going down the hill once with Mark, Cailen was all set to just watch after that. We tricked him into going one more time with me.

Kangaroo Zoo! On President's Day, all of Cailen's cousins went to a bounce house place called Kangaroo Zoo. At first, Cailen was pretty clingy to me and did NOT want to try things for himself. But he finally warmed up and LOVED it! He ran around with his cousin Landen who is 10. He was great with Cailen.
Cailen loves his cousin Becca and he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. What can be better than watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with Becca!? He was too enthralled with the show to smile at me.
Cailen watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with his friend Camden. He's obsessed.
Bowling for my birthday!!
Cailen loves this chair for some reason. It's really annoying because it only comes out when we are cleaning out our storage and he latches onto it like crazy. Here he is reading books in his lovely baby swing.
Celebrating my birthday with my relatives. Cailen eating ice cream with two spoons and then him giving pretend food to my mom and grandma on a play tea set plate. Fun stuff.
Whew! I'm about done! Now I just need to let you know what I have done for the past week or so. Yay! :)

Pictures for December

December - I'm finally getting some pictures added! Rather than add them to the December post, I figured I would just do another post, mostly of pics! So here you go, a visual update :)

(if you'd like to read the original post with all the descriptions, go here)

Christmas activities at Colonial Square in Bountiful, right down the street from us:
Cailen's first trip to Santa for the holiday season! His uncle Ryan joined in :)

I have such a cute little boy!! This is a peacoat a friend in the ward passed down to us. I think he looks ADORABLE!

Cailen the sheep and Ryan the Shepard - at the Davis Family Christmas Party

My cousin's daughter was a cow. The animals hung out together :)

Awesome present from Great Grandma Davis, a book!

Cailen helped make his present to his dad. He finger painted his handprints on a piece of paper and then we used that as a mat for a picture of him and Mark which we framed. It turned out REALLY cute (thanks Heather for the handprint idea!)

Christmas Eve - Cailen and his best bud, Cousin Becca, ran around together in their new jammies!

Christmas morning - Cailen was NOT happy to have been woken up for this. He let everyone know it. But he soon warmed up to the unwrapping of presents!

Cailen got a few awesome toys from Santa, one of which was the Sit N Spin. He loved it and his cousin Becca soon joined him!

I think this is the cutest video ever of Cailen and Becca singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Another fave, his microwave complete with some pretend food!

All the grandkids on Mark's side of the family (wait, Cailen is the only one on my side!) posing with their new Snuggies that Mark's mom made them!

Cailen "posing" with his new toddler bedding he got from Mom and Dad. I thought he was so cute sleeping in his new "toddler bed" (his crib minus one railing and the mattress lowered). He's doing good in it!

After Christmas, we headed to see the lights at Temple Square with Mark's family using the Trax. Cailen loved riding the train and was very excited. He liked the lights too :) My camera died right as we got to the temple, boo.
