Cailen is TWO!

So yes, I am a little behind. And has anyone else noticed how much I use the word "so" or is that just me? Anywho...I wanted to start with the latest stuff, but I HAAAAAVE to talk about Cailen's BIRTHDAY!! Besides, it was only 2 weeks ago...Man, time's flown. But moving on....

...to talk about my sweet little boy who is growing up so fast! We had an awesome entire weekend celebrating and I'm here to show you the awesome-ness.

First, it started with pancakes! Cailen is obsessed with pancakes. Seriously. He has (on a few occasions) eaten only pancakes the whole day. I tried to change it up a little, maybe a hot dog, some pasta, a sandwich perhaps? But no ("PANCAKES!" imagine that being screamed). Anyway, so I figured he would enjoy some fresh pancakes on his bday!

Yes that is my ugly unfinished table top...please ignore.
We then went out for a birthday lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Davis at Applebee's. "Cailen's" cake (umm, yes, I'm the mother so yes, I get to pick out Cailen's dessert and I chose the blondie! YUM!)
Playing with Aunt Heather, just enjoying being 2
He likes to look under the trampoline
Finally some birthday presents!! From Mom and Dad, some new shoes, Hokey Pokey Elmo, and a training potty! Oh so exciting. We later (at his party) gave him some more shoes, LeapFrog ABC fridge magnets (this is where he learned his ABCs at my cousin Zak's house!), and a..leash, for lack of a better word. One of those cute doggie backpack "leash" things to keep him next to me!
Dancing the Hokey Pokey with Elmo
The next day was Friday and we had Cailen's 2 year old check up! He did great and was quite excited to be there. He loved the fish and he was very excited to get "medicine" until he realized it wasn't the yummy medicine he gets to swallow! Immunizations! Poor kiddo was NOT a happy camper. He LOOVES suckers and he would not even look at the thing for like 5 minutes. He just held me and sobbed. Finally he helped me as I was cleaning up the books in the room that he had been reading and took his sucker like a trooper (and sugar-a-holic). I took this picture of him on the scale after the whole appointment because I had to!! Isn't it just cute!? He's big enough to STAND on a SCALE instead of having the baby-laying-thing-a-ma-jig to weigh him. Here are his 2 year old stats:
22 lbs and 31 inches
My little baby is little! He is in the 1st percentile for both height and weight. Ha! But it's okay, look at his entire family! (He has a cousin that is turning 3 this month who is shorter and weighs less than him...so there)
He knows his ABC's, can count to 10 (but always skips 9) and can recognize most colors. He informed me at the doctor's office that his sucker was orange! I think his favorite color must be blue though because that's always the first color he says, before he even thinks about it! He's just growing up!
Playing games on the computer with his friend Camden
Mowing the lawn with Dad. He would follow Mark up and down the yard, over and over.
Here he is practicing on his new potty. More on that later.
Saturday: Cailen's birthday party! Cailen has his birthday party in our backyard and lots of family and friends showed up. It was lots of fun! We had a slip'n'slide, an Elmo sprinkler, a pool, and water guns. The weather wasn't exactly what I hoped for, but the kids still ran around and played. We had hamburgers and hot dogs, watched the kids play, then opened presents and had cake. ME, MYSELF and I MADE THIS CAKE! I am very proud of myself so I am boasting on here. My friend Brynna graciously lent me her cake decorating tools (THANKS BRYNNA! I am planning on returning those...don't worry!). I made the cake the night before and I have to say, it turned out pretty good. Cailen's party theme was Transportation. His invitations had all different modes of transportation (from cars and trucks, to garbage trucks and mail boxes!) and the train cake seemed the coolest. He got some awesome presents and had a blast! Thanks everyone who came and celebrated with us!
Mark's family has a tradition of having monthly birthday parties for the family members who had birthdays that month. We were a month behind so we had one for May and June. There were 4 birthday people and my brother in law Mike was one of them. Cailen sat on his lap the whole time as he opened up presents and blew out his cupcake candle. It was a lot of fun and Cailen got even more fun stuff!!!

Well, I can't believe Cailen is two. I had fun reminiscing his birthday celebration so thanks for bearing with me :) He is such a light in my life and makes me smile all the time (makes me pull out my hair too--his favorite word is No). I love him bunches and I love my little family! Those of you out there with little tikes need to live closer to me, gosh darn it, so that our kids can play!! Anyway, Cailen is now waking up from his nap so I had better be done with this. Over and out!!

Selling stuff on KSL

So many of you know that I am raising money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America to run a half marathon in honor of my dad who suffers from Colitis. I have had a few garage sales (more on that later) to get some cash flow coming in and have posted some things on KSL.com that didn't sell at the garage sale. Thought I would announce it on here too so that if anyone was interested in the stuff, they could find it! :) If you are interested in any of the following, click on the link for the ad and let me know!! Haha thanks for humoring me!

Cabin Fever!

I know that I posted, oh YESTERDAY, that I am going to unclutter my life. And that that might mean less blogging. So what am I doing? Sitting here blogging, posting stuff on KSL (that is important though) when I should be at work (luckily, I can go whenever). But, I want to get some stuff on here so people know what we've been up to! And plus, Cailen is two now. You all need to see that and see his birthday stuff. Yes, you need to. So, I am going to post this whether my priorities list likes it or not (and yes, I made a priorities list this morning, and blogging was on the list entitled "Things I would like to do", work was on the "Things I need to do"......oh well).

It is summer!! We are so excited. It means fun times with family, friends and great weather. Well....except for these stupid rains we've been getting, DURING MY GARAGE SALES. Whatever. Anyway, we did get away a few weeks ago to Mark's family cabin. We just decided to pick up and go! Our friend Zak (my cousin actually) decided to join us. We had fun just lounging around, Cailen did great at entertaining himself, and the beach was surprisingly pretty warm! It was great!! Here are some pics to show you just what fun we had :) Anytime you guys want to join us there, let us know! We're game!!

Fun to See Old Friends

My friend Keri came in town over Memorial Day and a bunch of us got together to celebrate :) We were all college roommates and have stayed in contact ever since! I don't actually think any of them read this blog, but oh well, haha. I really meant to get a picture of all of us, but I totally forgot until everyone had left! It was Keri, Christy (who is engaged!!), Nissa and her husband Jacob, and me and Mark and Cailen. We went to eat and went back to Nissa's for desert and chitchat. Lots of fun to see everyone again!

In Need of Some Un-Cluttering!!

This can't be healthy....

I have been meaning to do sooo many things! I have mental lists, and actual lists, that seem neverending! Such is the life of someone in the "fast lane." I have decided that my life needs uncluttering. Very much so. Here is an article in the Ensign that really inspired me to take a good look at my life and make sure I am doing the important things first and then picking and choosing additional things. Because of this, I may or may not be doing a lot of blogging. I obviously have been having a hard time finding the time. I also may be doing dumb things that are wasting my time instead of documenting my life and my family's life as well as keeping in touch with friends. So my goal this week is to analyze how I am spending my time (this involves cleaning out my Google Reader!!! WAAAY too many blogs I'm following in there!) and making sure that my priorities are straight. That said, I hope to see you in a few days :) In the meantime, I am off to one of my top priorities...CHURCH! :)

My future life :) Nice and uncluttered!

Dallas! Oh, Texas, how I miss you...

Cailen, Mark and I took a trip to Texas at the beginning of April to move my sister Heather up to Utah. Yea! Cailen and I left a few days before Mark so that I could visit a few of my high school friends that I haven't seen in years!!! It was a lot of fun! I got to see my friends Kathryn and Renee, both of whom were pregnant at the time (Kathryn has since had her little boy and he is a cute munchkin!!! Congrats again Kat!). Kathryn lives in Dallas with her husband and Renee was in town for Kathryn's baby shower and stayed a few extra days so she could see me. We went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Always a winner. Cailen was a hit, since both my friends were soon to be mommies. They have got to get used to little balls of energy and silliness like him! He took a little while to warm up, but soon made silly faces like usual. I had fun catching up on things with them and reminiscing. I was also able to visit with my friend Sam. He was actually just staying the night in Dallas for a layover on his way home to El Paso. Crazy timing! It was perfect! I was able to see his family and visit with them for a little bit, as well as show off Cailen. Then Sam treated us to the Rainforest Cafe! Cailen loooooved the elephants we sat by and thought it was cool to look at the fish swimming with Sam. Lots of fun hanging out like ol' times! I was able to meet up with a fourth friend at the Fort Worth Zoo!! Her name is Erin and we were buds in school, clear from Middle School! She gave us an awesome tour and told us some fun things about the animals. It was awesome! Thanks Erin!

Trip home. Mark smiling as he is driving the U-Haul
Heather and I were able to go to some of her favorite local places to eat and hang out before she had to leave. My mom and Mark came down a few days after me to help us load the truck and get movin'. We took two days to drive back to Utah and it was a looong 2 days. Mark and I were driving the U-Haul and my mom and sister drove her car with the 2 dogs, 1 cat and Cailen! It wasn't too bad and soon enough we were in Utah! So now my sister is living in Utah, which is kinda weird because it's been sooo long since we have ALL lived in the same area (since 2000). It's been fun for her to hang out with Cailen and now we're all local! It was a lot of fun to visit Texas too and I am making a pact with...myself I guess, to visit Texas again!! El Paso, here I come!

Belated Ward Easter Egg Hunt

Yes, I am still trying to catch up, despite several people telling me to just start with the here and now. But there are some cute things that have happened!! And I want them documented, if only for my sake :) So here is Cailen at our ward Easter Egg Hunt...oh...back in March, hehe.We had it at our local park, just down the street from us. Cailen had a blast looking for eggs, playing with real bunnies and playing on the playground. It was a little cold so after getting all the eggs, we pretty much left so his little hands wouldn't freeze! But it was fun. We spent actual Easter with Mark's family down by Price camping. I'll post about that later though. Hope everyone is enjoying good weather and summertime fun!
