Flashback

I've been trying to get all my pictures organized on my computer, up to date, etc. Well in doing so, I've also tried to get pictures from my parents and anyone else who might have some fun ones or from certain events (Note to anyone reading this! If you have any pics of Cailen, please share!!) In checking out the pictures on my parents' computer, I found some from baaaack in the day. It was funny to see and remember what I looked like back then, as well as my siblings, and to reminisce about the early years of being married (ok, ok, so I am still in the early years of marriage, but you know what I mean...)

Wowee, here is an oldie but goodie - my sister Heather and I jumping over "thingys" at the airport

(I am wearing RED shoes...gross!)
My mom, dad, sister Michelle and brother Ryan at the Ciudad Juarez temple open house. It was awesome to get a temple so close finally!

Me with the little bro and sis at the zoo. Not a fan of my outfit. That's why I chose to show you guys one that has them hiding me.

Since Halloween is almost upon us, I thought I would share a pic of Halloween past - me as a bunny, Michelle a princess and Ryan a knight. My mom still has this costume, as well as Ryan's knight costume. Keep this pic in mind for when I display our costumes for this year!

Oh good ol' high school days (but oh so glad to be done with them!). Here is me on the homecoming court.

This is what I spent most of my time in high school doing - cheerleading! This was senior year, our varsity squad. All my fellow seniors ditched me and didn't cheer. Ok, not all. Not my bestest friend Jillybean! But all the girls I had cheered with since 7th grade were gone... :( However, I has my friend Kendal with me too! Yea! (Do you guys see yourself?) Kendal is to the left of me and Jill is in the row behind me, not looking of course :) Good times, good times.

I have seriously thought about cutting my hair short for a while now. This is a decent picture of my from Christmas 2001, when my hair was short. Not sure if the haircut can be seen, but at least I look alright in the picture. Anyone want to give me an opinion on if I should go short again?

Now here are some flashbacks of my dear hubby Mark. I don't have a ton because obviously I wasn't around to take them! And neither were my parents. But I got this one from my uncle Kirk because it was at his son Mark's wedding (my cousin, not my husband!) in which Mark (my Mark) was one of the groomsmen. Isn't he a stud!! It was either this picture or a similar one that I first saw Mark and decided we would date. Isn't that crazy? Even crazier is the fact that I totally had one of those stupid girlie moments where I envisioned us getting married and I would be able to tell people that I first saw him in a picture. Yes, a little psycho (hey girls, you all do it) but cute because it came true!! And you can't tell me you wouldn't think the same thing if you had seen this studly picture of him.

Here he is zoomed from a different shot. Such a hunk.

Me, Mark and my cousin Zak (one of Mark's best friends) hung out all the time for a couple months before 1) college started for me, 2) Zak left on his mission and 3) Mark left on his mission.

One of the things we did before the boys took off to preach the gospel was go to Fort Bridger. This is a lovely group shot of us all dressed in period clothing. I didn't have any so I had to borrow some from my aunt...it didn't fit so well. I'm third from the left in the back with Zak next to me dressed all Scottish, and Mark is sitting down with a lovely hat that makes him look dorky.

This is Zak visiting me at my dorm. Mark and I sat at this same spot once when he visited me (after Zak left on his mission) and my roommate Nissa played "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid out the window. A bit of an embarrassing moment.

Sending Zak off on his mission at the MTC. Good ol' days when you could go in with them! I didn't go in for Zak because I had to get back to class, but I did for Mark. I totally cried too and it was fine because I ended up marrying him. If I hadn't, then it would have turned into an embarrassing story.

Youngin's Zak and Mark at the MTC together. This is why Mark always has facial hair. He looks 12 when he shaves.

Christmas 2004 with the family in Mississippi. Heather only had one dog, Mark had just gotten back from his mission a few months before, I had cute long hair...why can't I have cute long hair anymore? It just looks drab now...hence me wanting to chop it off!

Christmas in Mississippi a few months after getting married! Ah those days were fun. Days are fun now too, but it's fun to look back on newlywed days :)

This is me and Mark in our first place celebrating my birthday. I loved that little duplex! It's funny to look back on because there are obviously things I hated about it (the pink shower), but thinking back, I miss the times we spent there! It was so fun to be newly married and to share our lives together!

Anyway, that's my little flashback. Probably no one enjoyed looking at those except me, but it was fun :) If anyone has any other fun flashback pictures, please send them to me! I would love to reminisce with you!

I loved this post!! Hahahaha, that was the game that we started singing, "my ***** are toasty, my ***** are toasty..." do you remember that? That pic brings back great memories. All the girls ditched me senior year, as well.

Ryan and Cailen look SOOOOO much alike!! Holy cow!! Esp. in that old Haloween pic!

Lastly, I loved your little duplex. Remember when we played games? I regret not doing more together when we lived sooooo close (like one street) to each other in UT.

"Kiss the girl", I remember that. In fact, it was right around the same time that I embarassingly purchased the kissing poster. And weren't you and Mark the first names on the poster....?

Val--sorry to disagree, but I think your hair looks fabulous! Not drab at all. However, I am always in favor of getting a cute new style to liven things up, so go for it if you want! Your hair looked great in the short pic, so do what makes you feel gorgeous.

And not to be weird, but I think Mark looks great in that pic! I like his facial hair--my husband grows great facial hair, too! Mark's always reminded me a bit of Joaquin Phoenix, especially in that shot of you guys in your first apartment. I agree with you--my first married home was a crappy hole-in-the-wall basement apt, but I still look back at it with fondness!

I have a great photo of us standing atop that hill or church or wherever we were in Marseilles. Alas, I have no scanner, and I BROKE my camera yesterday, so it'll be awhile before I can send it to you. Stupid camera. Stupid me. If you ever find yourself thinking, "Hey, I'll just tuck my camera next to my waterbottle--it won't spill!" just assume it WILL spill and DON'T DO IT!!!
